Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura(TTP) is an rare and fulminating disease
characterized by pentad of microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, fluctuating neurologic
abnormalities, fever and renal dysfunction and acute course with high mortality.
We recently experienced a case of TTP in a 47-year-ol4 man with microangiopathic
hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, neurologic abnormality, convulsion, coma
and acute renal failure. He was treated with various combinations of steroid, antiplatelet
agents, fresh frozen plasma, plasma exchange.
But he discharged hopelessly on 13 th hospital day.
